From 2020

The year I’d rather forget, but can’t.  In January 2020 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer.  I had a double mastectomy March 3, 2020.  As I was recovering from surgery, the world was reeling from Covid shut-downs.  When they did the double mastectomy they also removed a series of lymph nodes.  Unfortunately for me, the biopsy came back positive, the cancer was in the nodes also.    I had a second surgery to test additional nodes and make sure it hadn’t spread further.  Luckily it hadn’t spread.  My official diagnosis: Her2 Positive Stage 3 Breast Cancer.  
I went through Chemotherapy and Radiation.  The experience was scary and wild, and I’m so so thankful to say that I am officially Cancer Free.  This March I am planning a huge celebration – I can say that I’m in remission!!!

Cancer took everything about me that felt feminine.  I want to help other women going through the same diagnosis.  I learned more about wigs than I ever dreamt possible.  I ate recipes that promised to help with the healing.  I lost weight, then gained weight, my hair changed.  Now?  Now I dream about all of the wonderful things that make me, me.
